Quite a night...
Just returned from a very traumatic night at the park. We were having a picnic at a park near the east river and after dinner we all decided to walk to the edge of the park and watch the boats go by. Unfortunately, Macy wanted a closer look and stuck her head through the iron railing. And, as you probably could guess, she got her head stuck. At first we didn't think much about it...but after about 10 minutes of twisting and turning her head we started to get a little worried. At this point, there was a gallery of people watching the 'circus act' including a popcorn vendor who tried to help. He rubbed popcorn oil on Macy's head to see if we could slide it out. No success. She was incredibly calm throughout this ordeal - but we were getting more and more concerned. Finally - a man in the crowd called 911 and almost instantaneously 2 firetrucks, and ambulance and police car arrived. We had 8 uniformed servicemen on the scene. They were very kind and helpful and fortunately didn't have to use the "jaws of life" like they had anticipated. Two of them hopped the very tall iron fence and figured out a way to get Macy to turn her shoulder and eventually get her whole body to go through to the other side. Luckily - without any major bruises - they handed sweet Macy over to us.
On the walk home, she was holding her head and saying "Macy head stuck". Bless her little heart. She's bathed/de-oiled and sleeping now... lot's of excitement for tonight. She fell asleep the moment she got in bed.
